I have been a Feeddler Pro user since the original iPad. For a long time I raved about it to others, and enjoyed having all of my news sources beautifully organized and available in one handy place. Probably the app I spend the most time on daily. I was very happy with the old version.
I loved it so much that, when I saw that Feeddler Pro 2 was available, I immediately plunked down my $4.95 and upgraded.
What a mistake.
I long now for my no-longer-available prior version. The latest version has a less-useful user interface, replacing the blue dots that indicated unread content with faint, tiny numerals.
It also no longer loads unread articles beyond the amount that will fit on the initial page list. Instead of loading past articles, it just loads a second set of the same articles. This is a disaster if I allow more than a page full of unread articles to accumulate, because I cannot access them.
The HTML page viewer is effectively unusable on many of my favorite sites, resetting to page top with every new ad load, making it impossible to read articles without constant fiddling and scrolling. As a totally-unsatisfactory workaround, Ive taken to opening the articles in Safari, which defeats a key reason for why I loved Feeddler Pro. And with more and more sites truncating their RSS feeds requiring HTML viewing, this is a significant problem.
Lets call it Fiddler Pro 2, cause its so hard for me to use compared to the previous version. I hope the developer will issue some fixes soon, because Im going to be looking for another RSS reader otherwise.
A step backward and a sad passing of a previously-great app. I wish I, too, could "step backward" to the previous version...
